The Purpose of The Spirit or Truth

Now that we realize that the Paraclete or Holy Spirit is really the Spirit of Truth, we can now

define what Truth is. I feel that this is very necessary since no one really has done that for the

Holy Spirit. An entity which the church has never fully defined. Whose duties were or seemed

the same as GOD the Father or Jesus the Christ, which are two names that also need defining

correctly. But I digress. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Truth as the real state of

things: FACT. Fact is defined as the quality of being actual. In other words, Truth is what is left

after you take away all the lies and alibies, in today’s society, it is commonly what is hidden. So

based upon this, you could say that one of the Spirit of Truth roles is to reveal what is hidden. In

John 8:44-47 Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees, whom we would call the Pastors and Priest

of today’s religious world. He says, You are from your father, the devil, and you prefer to do

what your father wants. He was a murderer from the start; he was never grounded in the

truth; there is no truth in him at all. When he lies he is speaking true to his nature, because he

is a liar, and the father of lies. But it is because I speak the truth that you do not believe me.

Can any of you convict me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever

comes from God listen to the words of God. The reason why you do not listen is that you are

not from God.

There is so much packed in this speech that it could take two pages to interpret it. So, I will only

stick to the pertinent information we need for this message. The reason I chose this scripture is

because in it Jesus is using the Spirit of Truth, which is also in him, to condemn the religious

leaders of his time, of being followers of the devil. And then challenged them to convict him of

sin. Of course, they did not do it because they knew what he said was true. He finishes by

saying, Whoever comes from God listens to the words of God; the reason why you do not

listen- is that you are not from God. Jesus was alone against a group of Jewish leaders, and he

did not flinch or run from pronouncing the truth and stand on it. Scripture says confront the

devil and he will flee. Too many of us will not confront the devil when the Spirit of Truth reveals

him to you. That is what the Spirit of Truth does it uncovers the truth so that you can use it in

your defense, yet we choose to flee from the devil and let him have his way. And then there are

those who spend their time supporting the lies of other people, not realizing that based on this

scripture or maybe they do realize that they are serving and following the devil. Truth will

condemn you and if it does how are you going to get to Christ, because he is the road to Christ

and Christ is the Way to GOD the Father. Carefully choose the God you serve. There will be no

excuse for choosing wrongly because the Spirit of Truth will always reveal the truth to you,

whether you accept it or not. May you all be Blessed by reading and believing these words.
